THE BIG DISRUPTION: RETHINK HOW TO MAKE A MEDIA FRANCHISE

First, I wrote a coming of age teen drama, pitched as, “The OC meet the X Games.” I caught the attention of Loni Peristere (Director, House of the Dragon, Warrior) and Chris Buchanan (Buffy the Vampire Slayer). We pitched to various network execs, and the script was well liked. While they passed, welcome to Hollywood, everyone loved the title. That was a good sign.

 “Flirting with Gravity” was a motto, a way of life, a brand. We turned that brand into its own action sports universe (transmedia) for the young teen audience who were starting to embrace digital media.
