THIS. IS. ME. (CREATIVE DIRECTOR = WRITER + DIRECTOR + EDITOR)
I was conceived in Hong Kong, then my parents decided a better life was in America so they hopped on a boat and crossed the ocean. I was born a month later in the same hospital as Bruce Lee.
They were typical immigrants and probably imagined their one and only son as a successful lawyer, doctor, or engineer. Being a founder of Creative Fugitives, an innovative content studio that pushes boundaries and disrupts normality, was probably not in that mah jong hand.
During my ad agency career, I pitched advertising campaigns at award-winning agencies and Fortune 500 clients. I supervised numerous TV commercial productions from concept through delivery.
As a video editor, I’ve shaped over 100 hours of unscripted content for major networks on Emmy-winning shows. I also worked on a few docs as a producer and editor, where they played on YouTube and in theaters.
As a founder of Creative Fugitives, I developed and pitched original properties with producers and fellow collaborators with high-level entertainment executives and agents. From shooting a series using a mini-DV camera, to learning the new A.I. tools, there is a universal adrenaline hit knowing I have the ability to go out and just make something.
Whether it’s communicating the nuances of the pitch in the room, managing small crews, or crafting beats in the edit bay, I’ve navigated all aspects of storytelling. I wasn’t born a unicorn; my curiosity just sent me down various paths where I could challenge myself and expand my skill set.
