THE STORY: Jordan Peele announced a unique “No Drama” short contest that focused on comedy and horror. I was already toying with a story with using mythical creatures of Asian descent to tell a fun story about immigration. I had a short month to write a short, design a pitch deck and two submission videos. The final product script had so many layers: From set pieces, humor ,Korean Karens, and a message.

This was more than a short, it was a proof of concept for a series. There’s a prize of 50K for 6 finalists but I already received interest from potential producers from Asia who are looking for unique voices.
